The Tories’ attempts to make the UK unwelcoming to arrivals, Opinion, 8 August 2023

Ben Jennings

£35.00

This cartoon was in response to government plans to deport asylum seekers to a remote island if the notorious Rwanda scheme didn’t come to pass. I thought there was a slight irony of threatening people who arrive in Britain that they could be taken to a miserable, remote island. Here we have Suella Braverman and Rishi Sunak continuing their efforts to make the UK seem as unwelcoming as possible, stood on top of the isles on the lookout as sewage pipes spurt effluents into the surrounding waters.
